All the metalwork shops that work in shaping a final product out of a semi finished or raw metal might follow different procedures, power tools and machineries but they all have one thing in common and that is, metal chips. The chips can be in the form of fillings, dust or shavings and each has its own set of disadvantages if not contained and disposed of in a proper manner.
For instance, fillings and dust can infuse with oil in the area and can settle on different machineries as well as final product which can lead to machine failures and diminished look of the final products! The fine dust and shavings pose a grave danger to the workers working in the close proximity of the machine as they might inhale the metal chips and that can result in fatal lung diseases. Also, metal chips from certain processes can also result in deep cuts and injuries because of their sharp edges. While certain gloves and masks can be an effective protection for the workers, to contain the fine metal shavings and dust, you would require an industrial vacuum cleaner!
